The dazzling beauty of Ginny (Kate Winslet), coupled with her considerable intellectual superiority to her husband Humpty (Jim Belushi), make her no match for her spouse. That Ginny was a single mom who had cheated on her first husband does little to explain why she agreed to this significant mismatch. The audience demands a better explanation, and the explanation cannot be passionate love as nothing seems to indicate that was ever the case.
